Conflicts and deadlocks play an important role in the factors that reduce the productivity of countries. When there are continuous disputes and conflicts between different communities or individuals of the society, it directly affects economic development and social harmony. Whenever American multinational companies increase their business presence in a country, they further promote this type of situation. These companies follow the policy of ‘Divide and Rule‘, under which they create conflicts between different communities of the society and divide them politically and socially. There are two main forms of this policy:
1. Conflicts between community groups:
The main objective of this policy is to take advantage of the disparities that exist between different groups of the society. By identifying and increasing these disparities, conflicts are created between different groups. These conflicts further deepen the division in the society.
For example, conflicts arise on the basis of religion (Hindu-Muslim conflict), caste (forward-backward conflict), regional (North-South conflict), language and food. Every society has differences and different groups based on caste, religion, region, language, etc. If there is no conflict or differences between these groups, then that society is considered unequal or immature.
US companies always take advantage of these differences and use media and legal means to deepen them. Especially since 1991, many political parties in India have engaged in identity politics, which increases tensions between these communities to get media coverage. Social media, such as Facebook and YouTube, have further accelerated this process.
Over time, these conflicts will deepen and can take violent forms. This situation is a result of the growing presence of US companies, and as foreign investment (FDI) increases, so will this conflict.
2. Personal disputes and conflicts on public issues:
Apart from community conflicts, the problem of personal disputes and conflicts in public places is also becoming more serious. In public life, every person is given a free hand to create trouble for another person. Taking advantage of this freedom, people create disputes in public places on small matters.
For example, noise in public places, haphazard parking, land encroachment, and false cases, etc., all these are small things, but they create constant tension and trouble in day-to-day life. There is no fixed limit of public behavior and misbehavior, and people ignore them and go on their way. As a result, common people remain troubled and there is no help from the system.
Bullies dominate public places, and by the time a person returns to his home, he has often lost his mental state. These constant quarrels and tensions further increase the situation of disharmony in the society.
Solution:
To stop this problem, first of all we have to control foreign direct investment (FDI) in media. If we stop it, it can effectively reduce the conflicts and deadlocks in the society. Apart from this, we also have to take steps towards the reform of police and courts. Unless the police and judiciary function effectively, it will be impossible to end these problems.
Our advice is that activists should first try to reform the police and judiciary of India. For this, we have proposed the National Jury Court Law, which can play an important role in the reform of police and courts. We need to get this law published in the gazette to implement it, so that it can prove to be a strong and effective step.
Conclusion:
Conflicts and deadlocks not only destroy the peace and harmony of the society, but it also hinders the economic progress of the country. These problems are increasing due to foreign investment and the activities of American companies. We need to take strong steps in this direction, including preventing FDI in media and reform of the police and judiciary as well as efforts to set limits on public behaviour.
