The people of Bengal are being denied the right to watch a film that has shaken the conscience of India – The Bengal Files. While it is running across the country and worldwide, in Bengal the TMC government and the police have shamefully blocked its release. What are they so afraid of? Why are they stopping ordinary Bengalis from seeing their own history on the big screen?

A Film Born Out of Struggle
This movie faced hurdles even before it was born. The makers were denied permission to call it The Delhi Files: Bengal Chapter. After a long fight, it finally emerged as The Bengal Files and was released globally. But when it came to Bengal – the very soil where these events took place – the doors of cinema halls were slammed shut. This is nothing less than an insult to the people of Bengal.

Politics of Fear Before 2026 Elections
The TMC knows that truth is dangerous for their politics. They fear that the youth of Bengal will rise when they see what really happened, and how politics of division has kept Bengal chained even after 80 years of independence. With 2026 Assembly Elections ahead, they are terrified of an awakened Bengal.

The Question That Haunts Us All
As actor Shiva Pandit (Darshan Kumar) says in the film:

Why, after 80 years of independence, are we still fighting with the same old communal politics? Are we really free? If we are, then why are we so helpless?

This is not just cinema. It is today’s Bengal speaking. We are still trapped, still divided, still silenced.

A Call to Every Citizen
This is no longer just about a movie—it is about our right to know, our right to truth, our right to freedom of expression. If Bengal cannot watch The Bengal Files, then democracy itself is in danger.

• We appeal to every Bengali, every Indian, every youth of this nation:
• Support Vivek Agnihotri and his team.
• Raise your voice against the ban.
• Demand cinema halls in Bengal screen the film.
• Let the younger generation see the truth and decide their future.

A Warning to the Ruling Powers
Let it be clear: if you don’t lift the ban, it will be a disadvantage for you only. You cannot silence or suppress the truth forever. People will eventually watch it online, or through other means. The more you block it, the more curiosity will rise. Instead of fighting democracy, let the film run in Bengal and show that you respect the people’s right to choose.

We also request the Government of India, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry, the Censor Board, the Election Commission, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble President, and every responsible authority to ensure this film is released in West Bengal. We call upon the Chief Minister of Bengal and the TMC leadership to stop this undemocratic suppression and allow the people of Bengal to see the truth.

Bengal once led India’s renaissance, Bengal once led India’s freedom struggle. It is time for Bengal to wake up again. Let the truth be shown. Let the people decide.
