As the new year begins on 1st January, it also marks the birthday of one of Bharat’s most inspiring educators—Anand Kumar. On this special day, we wish him a heartfelt Happy New Year 2026 and a very Happy Birthday. His life and work remind us that education is not just a profession—it is a responsibility, a movement, and a form of nation-building.
From a Small Classroom to a National Movement
In 1992, Anand Kumar began teaching mathematics by renting a small classroom in Patna for just ₹300 per month. This humble beginning led to the founding of the Ramanujan School of Mathematics (RSM). What started with two students soon grew to thirty-six within a year, and in just three years, nearly 500 students had enrolled.
A defining moment came in the early 2000s when a poor student approached him seeking coaching for the IIT-JEE, but could not afford the high fees. That moment exposed the harsh reality of India’s education system and inspired Anand Kumar to take action. In 2002, he launched the now-legendary Super 30 programme, which would change the lives of countless underprivileged students.
Super 30: Education Without Barriers
Since 2002, every year in May, the Ramanujan School of Mathematics conducts a competitive examination to select 30 exceptionally talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Anand Kumar personally trains them for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination, providing free coaching, study materials, food, and accommodation for an entire year.
Super 30 is not just an institution—it is a family mission. His mother, Jayanti Devi, lovingly cooks for the students, while his brother Pranav Kumar manages the operations. Together, they proved that compassion combined with knowledge can defeat poverty and inequality.
A National Inspiration Beyond the Classroom
Anand Kumar’s work gained national attention through his appearances on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)—first as a contestant in 2017, and later as a guest, where he inspired millions with his humility, intelligence, and commitment to education.
His life story reached an even wider audience through the film Super 30, starring Hrithik Roshan. A sincere thank you to Hrithik Roshan for choosing cinema that inspires society. The film was a must-watch, with powerful performances by the entire cast, reminding the nation that real heroes are teachers who uplift the poor.
Bihar, Brilliance, and a Broken System
Bihar has always been one of the most intellectually rich regions of India, producing great minds across history. Yet, due to corrupted and illiterate leadership, aided by exploitation and long-term neglect—often influenced by global powers—its people were pushed into poverty and weakness.
Anand Kumar’s journey proves that the people were never the problem. The system was.
Despite facing pressure from corrupt leaders, big business interests, and even gundas who tried to stop him, Anand Kumar stood firm. Shame on those who tried to silence education. History will remember them differently than it remembers Anand Kumar.
A Message for the Future
Anand Kumar’s life sends a clear message to Bharat:
Wake up. Educate yourself. Educate others.
No nation can rise if its brightest minds are ignored or forced to leave. True freedom and strength come through knowledge.
Birthday and New Year Wishes
On this meaningful day, we thank Anand Kumar for giving hope to the underprivileged, for founding Super 30, and for proving that one honest teacher can change a nation’s future.
Happy New Year 2026 and Happy Birthday, Anand Kumar.
May your mission continue to inspire generations, and may Bharat one day fully honor and protect minds like yours.
